the infamous stringdusters

(...is a pretty rockin' band name.)

nora g-chatted me earlier in the week with such urgency that i see this bluegrass band - she'd just seen them in DC - that i had no choice but to gather some girls and go.  other claire and erin and i went last night and they ROCKED.  really so much fun and such great music.  i'm in love.  all three of us are in love.  nora: you totally made our night.

i am absolutely in love with this song that they played last night.  it's the only slow song that they played - the bass player, banjo player, and guitar player on stage while the other three guys took a break - and it was one of those moments where you're like, "how was my life complete before i heard this song?"  i bought it from itunes at 2:15am when i got home and have been playing it constantly ever since.  which i guess isn't actually that long, since i sort of just got up.

for their encore last night, the band came into the crowd and played two songs.  unplugged their instruments, no mics, just walked down into the crowd, formed a circle and started playing.  oh, and this was IMMEDIATELY BEHIND US.  as in, i was six inches from this encore.  incredible.  really one of those memories i won't forget for a long time.

there were so many people taping the encore on their phones - a little obnoxious really - that i knew someone would put this online this morning.  and they did.  good work, predictable people!  um, that's the top of my blonde head in the lower left corner of your screen, and to my left is another blonde head (other claire) and erin is totally visible, too.  see the tool on the left who was putting his iphone in the banjo player's face?  i was really grumpy with him about that.

while you are under no obligation to watch the encore video (featuring the back of my head), you are mandated to listen to "poor boy's delight," the first video.  do it.

  1. I am so, so pleased that you went and that you enjoyed it! It's such a bummer you didn't get to see Trampled by Turtles, too. But I'll make sure they go on the TIPsgiving mix :)
