so...i arrived in florida on friday evening to find out that my grandpa had passed away just a couple hours beforehand, with much of his family (also in town for my grandma's 90th birthday celebration) by his side. while it was sad to lose him - and to miss seeing him by just a couple hours - i spent the weekend with 15 other family members, catching up on each others' lives and enjoying being part of this family, as we remembered my grandpa's long life.  he died peacefully.  the 16 of us did not process the news alone.  the timing was, in many ways, perfect.  there is a great deal to be thankful for.
