are you like me? does some music take you right back to where you were when you first heard it? and by "first heard it," i mean "first put the CD on repeat" (or, back in the day, kept flipping over the tape) and became obsessed with the album. the summer after 8th grade, i went to a dorky/awesome summer camp, and one of the girls i became friends with had the new alanis morissette CD, jagged little pill. she made a copy of it on a tape (!) for me, and we listened to it all summer. i knew all the words to every song - i still do. when i think of alanis morissette, i think of that summer.
alanis morissette was on american idol this week, and when she started singing i was back in 1996, 14 years ago, and awkward-8th-grade me tried to make her way to the surface. it's also the summer i became a vegetarian, incidentally. more on that later...
